Barth Hawtin Tennis

Barth-Hawtin Tennis Academy is a tennis training organization based on Kiawah Island, South Carolina, focused on developing players through high-level coaching and character education. It offers year-round, full-time and part-time programs for junior and professional players, along with à la carte coaching services. Its full-time training group brings together approximately 20 players, with an average of four to five part-time athletes joining each week. A team of 10 coaches works at the academy’s 22-court facility, which is located near the beach.

The academy’s curriculum supports individual development within a group training environment. Players set goals at the start of each week and receive daily coaching tailored to their progress. Strength and conditioning, overseen by Dr. Mark Kovacs, draws on sports science methods intended to improve performance and reduce injury risk. Students also take part in daily character-focused lessons, with monthly themes such as leadership, entrepreneurship, and mindfulness. Through agreements with professional players and their teams, academy athletes may also have opportunities to train alongside them and observe professional-level preparation.
