About Baruther Glashütte
Baruther Glashütte is a historic glassmaking village and cultural destination in Baruth/Mark, Brandenburg, set amid the Baruther Urstromtal. This protected workers’ settlement brings together centuries-old manufacturing traditions, historic half-timbered buildings, contemporary craftsmanship and a welcoming village community. Its museum explores the history of glassmaking and the local heritage; visitors can also see demonstrations and take part in hands-on experiences. Manual glassmaking was added to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2023.
The village offers a glass studio, glass art, a museum shop and a variety of independent craft businesses and galleries. Their work includes pottery, textiles, felt, soap, garden herbs and other handmade goods. Workshops and activities range from glassblowing and glass-bead jewellery to mosaics, pottery, felt-making and blacksmithing. Seasonal markets, cultural events, group programmes and team-building activities add further ways to explore.
Visitors can also find places to eat and stay, including guest rooms, holiday accommodation and a museum hostel. Baruther Glashütte combines industrial history, creative experiences and rural hospitality in an atmospheric setting.
