The Basalt Lions Club is a community service organization that has served Basalt and the Roaring Fork Valley since 1957. Guided by a mission of vision, community, and compassion, it contributes volunteer time and financial support to local and wider causes. Its programs include free vision screenings for preschool and elementary school children, prescription eyeglasses for people in need, and help arranging medical care for children who require further treatment. The club also awards college scholarships to four graduating seniors each year and supports youth initiatives, families, and local nonprofit partners. Its broader commitments include the Colorado Lions Camp for youth with disabilities and the Colorado Lions Eye Bank in Denver.
To fund and strengthen its work, the club organizes community events and fundraisers, including an annual charity golf tournament, a lacrosse tournament, the Lions Club Pancake Wagon, and an online silent auction featuring items donated by local businesses. Other activities include the Peace Poster Project, Basalt Tree Lighting, and National Night Out.
