About Basel Institute on Governance
The Basel Institute on Governance, established in 2003, is a not-for-profit Swiss foundation and an Associated Institute of the University of Basel. With a mission to counter corruption and improve governance standards, we work globally with the public and private sectors, as well as civil society. Our multidisciplinary teams operate in Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.
We offer a range of expertise and services, including asset recovery assistance, anti-corruption research and training, collective action against corruption, corporate governance advice, and public finance management. Through our International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR), we provide capacity building and support for asset recovery efforts. At the heart of our approach is a belief in multi-stakeholder collaboration, prevention, and an integrated, practice-oriented methodology.
Our work is underpinned by deep expertise, a recognized international reputation, and a commitment to sustainable and equitable development
