Basketball Beginnings

Basketball Beginnings is a community-rooted youth development organization focused on helping young people build confidence through movement, mentorship, and community. Its approach supports the whole child, combining athletic, academic, wellness, leadership, life-skills, and community pathways. The organization offers basketball and soccer, physical literacy, wellness and movement activities, academic support, mentorship, camps, clinics, and leadership development.

Its Community Basketball Development League serves coed participants in Grades 2–8, with team and individual registration. The league and related activities take place at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic School in Scarborough, with selected Saturday sessions and holiday open-gym and training opportunities. Basketball Beginnings also shares schedules, standings, and program information to help families stay connected.

The organization emphasizes a safe, inclusive environment, background-checked staff, and academic and character development. Its stated mission is to help youth grow beyond sport, from the court to the classroom and into other areas of life. Basketball Beginnings reports current program activity for 2026–2027, while noting that these figures reflect records in its attendance and reporting system rather than its full historical reach.
