BASKETdemics is a youth basketball and education organization founded by former Division I players Deborah Ziozis and Danene Hopson. Its mission is to equip student athletes with skills for success on the court, in the classroom, and in life. The program offers a fun, supportive camp and training environment for young players of different ages and skill levels, complementing competitive basketball with focused instruction and personal development.
Training covers offensive fundamentals such as ball handling, shooting, passing, footwork, and finishing, alongside defensive skills, help defense, rebounding, and team building. Participants also learn about sports nutrition, sports psychology, sportsmanship, and basketball statistics. These lessons are designed to support physical health, performance, focus, confidence, decision-making, and emotional control while connecting athletic development with practical academic and life skills.
BASKETdemics aims to serve athletes whether they play for enjoyment or pursue the sport seriously, and works to accommodate families facing financial challenges. The organization is fiscally sponsored by Uplift, Inc., a tax-exempt nonprofit, and invites supporters to sponsor an athlete through donations.
