About Basurama
Basurama is a cultural and environmental collective founded in 2001, dedicated to research, creation, and production. They focus on studying the processes of waste production and the creative possibilities that arise from these contemporary situations. Originally born at the School of Architecture in Madrid, Basurama has evolved and adopted new forms over the years.
Their goal is to explore the phenomena inherent in mass waste production, both real and virtual, in consumer society. They aim to provide new perspectives that generate critical thinking and attitudes. Basurama seeks to identify gaps within these production and consumption processes that raise questions not only about resource exploitation but also about our way of thinking, working, and perceiving reality.
Basurama has become a multidisciplinary space where diverse activities take place simultaneously, including visual arts, workshops, lectures, concerts, screenings, and publications. They also serve as a platform for different individuals across society to connect and work together, creating a creative and collaborative environment.
With more than 100 projects on four continents, Basurama is based in Madrid and has a permanent office in Bilbao, Spain. They explore various formats of waste, finding it in unexpected places, and incorporating it into their work. To learn more about their latest projects, explore their website.
