British American Tobacco Centroamérica is a multicultural group of organizations that forms part of British American Tobacco (BAT), a leading tobacco company with brands sold in over 180 markets worldwide. With a history dating back to 1910, BATCA has a strong presence in the region. We are the result of the integration of several countries, united to maximize competitive advantages and ensure customer satisfaction.
In the early 1990s, as globalization and free trade became the norm, the business landscape experienced significant changes. Recognizing this trend, our regional companies decided to form a cohesive management team, integrating strategies, structures, and operations. This led to the creation of British American Tobacco Centroamérica (BATCA) in 2001, bringing together tobacco companies from Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Panama.
In 2020, BATCA merged with units from markets in Central America, the Caribbean, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela to form the LANCAR region. Our new strategy, established in March 2020, is focused on building a Better Tomorrow by reducing health risks and offering a wider variety of products.
