About Batwa Development Program
Welcome to the Batwa Experience in Bwindi, Uganda, where you can immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of the Batwa people, known as "The Keepers of the Forest." The Batwa have a long and fascinating history, with some estimates placing their existence in the equatorial forests of Africa for over 60,000 years.
The Batwa Development Program focuses on initiatives such as education, healthcare, home building, and income generation to empower the Batwa community and improve their quality of life. Through the BDP, hundreds of Batwa children are sponsored in schools, healthcare is provided, homes are built, and income generation projects are established.
Experience the Batwa way of life first-hand with tours, where you can learn about their hunting techniques, participate in home building, and connect with the community. Join us in supporting the Batwa as they strive for self-sufficiency and sustainable development.
