BaumFrieden

BaumFrieden provides a form of tree burial that creates a personal memorial in a place meaningful to the deceased and their loved ones. The service is offered through a collaboration between Funeria, a nationwide German funeral-director network, and Monuta, a Dutch funeral provider. After cremation, the ashes are transferred to Kerkrade in the Netherlands and mixed with soil before being planted with a tree of the family’s choice. The young tree is monitored and cared for there for three to nine months, then prepared for collection or delivery so it can be planted at a chosen location in Germany.

Customers can select from 28 tree varieties chosen for suitability to German conditions. BaumFrieden’s services include arranging the transfer of ashes, the tree, the planting process, growth monitoring, and planting instructions. Optional arrangements include attending the ash ceremony, using funeral or reception rooms, receiving photographs, and arranging tree delivery. A reduced-price Sternschnuppenbaum package is available for families who have lost a child through the age of three, stillbirth, or miscarriage.
