This comprehensive platform includes contributions from archives, libraries, museums, as well as state administration, heritage conservation, and academic institutions. bavarikon offers global and free access to a diverse range of cultural assets, such as documents, manuscripts, archaeological findings, paintings, photographs, sculptures, and more.

Selected exhibits are available as 3D models, with specially produced digital replicas enriching the portal's offerings. Launched in April 2013, bavarikon continuously expands its content monthly and onboards new partners regularly. The platform is overseen by the State Ministries of Science and Art, Digital Affairs, and the bavarikon Council, composed of 14 members representing key Bavarian institutions, ensures the portal's strategic direction and content selection.
