BAVC Media

BAVC Media, formerly known as the Bay Area Video Coalition, is a San Francisco-based nonprofit and creative community that brings together creators, activists, independent makers, and people using media to tell stories and effect change. Its work extends beyond video to support a broad range of media makers through education, artist development, production, preservation, and community programs.

BAVC offers classes in areas such as color correction, cinematography, lighting, and audio post-production, alongside fellowships, apprenticeships, workforce development, and youth programs. Its production services include audio recording and post-production, and it offers production support through BAVC Productions. Preservation resources include research on magnetic media and the SF COMMONS Playback Lab, which provides free video preservation for San Francisco residents. The organization also supports community media, sponsored projects, fiscal sponsorship, and a community job board. Members can access a dedicated membership program, while supporters can contribute through donations, partnerships, and its online shop. Through these services and initiatives, BAVC Media helps people develop skills, preserve media, and share stories.
