About Bawso
**Brand Description: Bawso**
Bawso is a leading organization in Wales dedicated to providing vital support to black and minority ethnic (BAME) and migrant victims of abuse, violence, and exploitation. Founded in 1995 by a group of committed women in Cardiff, Bawso has become a cornerstone of advocacy and assistance, empowering over 6,000 individuals annually. The organization offers a range of services, including purpose-built refuges, safe houses, and community support through a 24-hour helpline. Their initiatives address pressing issues such as forced marriage, female genital mutilation, honour-based violence, and modern slavery.
In addition to direct services, Bawso emphasizes awareness-raising and training for professionals across various sectors, ensuring a holistic approach to community support. Their dedicated Interpretation and Translation Department enhances accessibility for diverse populations. Governed by a board composed of experienced individuals from the communities they serve, Bawso remains steadfast in its mission to create a Wales free from abuse, promoting respect, empathy, and advocacy across all communities.
