The Bayou Woman is a unique brand that celebrates the water, the people, the culture, and the way of life in south Louisiana. Founded by Captain Wendy Wilson Billiot, a passionate advocate for the preservation of wetlands, The Bayou Woman offers a range of products and services centered around the beauty and restoration of the local ecosystem. As an experienced Freelance Writer, Photographer, and Radio Show Guest Host, Captain Wendy Wilson Billiot shares her deep knowledge and love for the bayou through her captivating blog and engaging books.
Her first book, Before the Saltwater Came, and its companion, Guidebook for Educators, have received critical acclaim. Moreover, The Bayou Woman offers exciting experiences through their Eco Tours of local wetlands, where passengers can witness both the extraordinary beauty and the unfortunate degradation caused by oil exploration. Captain Wendy's US Coast Guard License enables her to transport passengers and even participate in marsh grass planting projects.
With her commitment to wildlife conservation, Captain Wendy Wilson Billiot is making a significant impact on the South Louisiana wetlands through her work with BTNEP's Prothonotary Warbler Conservation and Monitoring program. Discover the magnificent world of the bayou with The Bayou Woman
