BAZTEC Fishing Outdoors

Baztec Fishing & Outdoors is a Minnesota-based, grassroots community organization working to make outdoor recreation more accessible to people from underserved and underrepresented communities. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it focuses particularly on bilingual and BIPOC youth, creating opportunities to learn about fishing and enjoy the outdoors. Its mission is to provide outdoor education and welcoming fishing experiences, guided by a vision of a future where a person’s background does not limit access to outdoor activities.

Baztec offers fishing education, information, seminars, workshops, and practical resources. Its classes, taught by professional anglers, cover fishing basics and fundamentals, including fishing gear, rod and reel anatomy, casting methods, knot tying, live-bait rig setup, fish handling, and fish identification. The organization also shares resources in English and Spanish, including information about different fish species, and publishes outreach pictures and project materials. Through events and community partnerships, Baztec connects participants with learning opportunities and outdoor experiences across Minnesota. Its website also provides information about board members, upcoming activities, ways to get involved, and donation options.
