Arizona Birthworkers of Color

BBEN, or Black Birth Equity NOW, is dedicated to advancing Black maternal health in Arizona through comprehensive and culturally relevant approaches. The organization focuses on providing perinatal support, advocating for systemic change, and promoting workforce development while engaging in community-based participatory research. BBEN aims to ensure that Black mothers and birthing people receive the dignity, respect, and support they deserve during their reproductive journeys.

The organization's vision is to create a healthcare system where Black mothers thrive in an equitable environment free from disparities. BBEN's core pillars include providing culturally responsive care, which gives Black families access to education and self-advocacy tools, workforce development that enhances the capabilities of Black perinatal health professionals, and actively pushing for policy changes to address maternal health inequities. Additionally, BBEN prioritizes community-led research to uplift Black voices and accurately reflect their experiences, aiming to drive systemic improvements in maternal health. Through these initiatives, BBEN is committed to transforming the Black birthing experience in Arizona.
