BBS

The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) is the national statistical agency of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. It collects, compiles, analyses and publishes statistics to support public information and planning. Its work spans population and housing, economic and agricultural censuses, agriculture, industry, labour and employment, health and demography, education, poverty, income and expenditure, prices and wages, national accounts, GDP, foreign trade, information and communication technology, and the environment, natural resources, climate and disasters.

BBS provides a broad range of publications, including statistical yearbooks, pocketbooks, bulletins, district statistics and census reports. Its website also offers online data services and platforms, including geographic information and environmental statistics resources. Users can find census and survey information, statistical indicators, notices and reports, as well as information about ongoing and completed projects. The bureau additionally provides an on-site Microdata Analysis Lab, with registration, documentation and user guidance for accessing microdata. Through its publications, data services, surveys and censuses, BBS makes official statistics available to government, researchers and the public.
