About Berkshire Sheriff
The Berkshire County Sheriff's Office is the largest law enforcement agency in Berkshire County, located in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. With a commitment to serving the community, the Sheriff's Office oversees the county Jail and House of Correction, as well as the Regional 911 Dispatch Center. Holding dual accreditation with the American Correctional Association and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, the Sheriff's Office ensures the highest standards of care and security.
Covering 946 square miles of rural, mountainous terrain, the Sheriff's Office provides an array of support services to all law enforcement agencies in the county. These services include a K-9 Unit, Underwater Search and Rescue Unit, Mobile Command Center, Field Communication Vehicle, Traffic Control Trailer, Electronic Sign-Boards, and Portable Light Towers.
Under the leadership of Sheriff Thomas Bowler, the Sheriff's Office maintains partnerships with various law enforcement task forces and responds to critical incidents. With a dedicated and trained staff of over 200 employees, the Sheriff's Office is committed to public safety.
