The Murrindindi Beanie & Fibre Festival is a community celebration of fibre art held in Alexandra, Victoria, north-east of Melbourne. Bringing together makers, visitors and local businesses, the festival showcases creative beanies and winter warmers and invites people of all ages and abilities to take part. Its inclusive competition welcomes entries from across Australia, including creations made by school students using recycled materials. Community knitting groups and individuals are also encouraged to contribute donated items, which are displayed and offered for sale during the event.
The festival features workshops, stalls and activities for families, while the town joins in by wearing, creating or displaying beanies. Selected creations may also be included in an online auction, where visitors can bid using a computer or mobile device. The 2026 festival is scheduled for May 23 and 24, with an online auction running from May 18 to 24. Its theme is “A World in Black & White.” The event aims to share fibre creativity and bring the Murrindindi community together.
