About Beba Editions
Beba Editions is a brave and innovative publishing house founded in 2009, based in Cairo, Egypt. Their mission is to introduce contemporary Italian literature to the contemporary Arabic library through beautifully designed, small-format books with covers created by Arab contemporary artists. Their flagship collection, SEHAM (meaning arrows), consists of short stories that skillfully penetrate the minds of readers, leaving an indelible mark.
These thought-provoking texts delve into the depths of human nature, addressing ethical and existential issues while revealing controversial aspects of a society in constant turmoil. Beba Editions is the only independent Egyptian publishing house dedicated to translating and publishing Italian literature, with a focus on works that often go unnoticed by mainstream commercial publishers. They are dedicated to expanding their reach to other languages in the Mediterranean region and continue their successful co-editions.
In addition to their literature offerings, Beba Editions also publishes books on art and artists and plans to launch a series on contemporary philosophy and schools of thought. They are also planning to open an e-book section to reach Arabic readers worldwide. Alongside their published works, Beba Editions offers editorial consultancy services, particularly for fiction and essays from the Arab world, to create long-term publishing plans.
