AWAKIESE

Awa Akiese is an Angolan company focused on mining, natural resources, agriculture, trading and industrial services. Its activities include quartz and copper mining in Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as the sale of quartz and other minerals. The company also explores and sells timber, supplies agricultural products, rents industrial equipment and provides industrial services. Its trading business covers commodities including oil and gas, minerals and food products.

Awa Akiese is developing agricultural operations in Moxico and Bengo, with farms spanning 6,000 and 200 hectares respectively. It also plans to process locally mined quartz through an industrial park, initially producing silicon and silica, with glass production envisaged as a later addition. The company presents its work as a way to add value to Angola’s resources and support communities where it operates. Its stated social responsibility goals include investing at least 2% in community projects, including education, health and access to potable-water transport.
