Beeklust Bloazers

Beeklust Bloazers, formally Stichting Midwinterhoornbloazers Almelo-Beeklust, is a group based in Almelo, Twente, dedicated to preserving and sharing the region’s traditional midwinterhoorn blowing. This longstanding Twentse custom is an important part of local cultural heritage and is especially associated with the Advent season. The group’s members perform throughout the season, responding to more than 40 requests in a typical Advent period.

Beeklust Bloazers brings the distinctive sound of the midwinterhoorn to public and private occasions, including Christmas markets, shopping Sundays, school visits, New Year’s receptions, private celebrations, Christmas drive-ins and care homes. Event organisers can contact the group to discuss arrangements for adding a traditional atmosphere to their Advent events. In addition to performances, the blazers provide information and lessons in playing the midwinterhoorn, helping introduce the practice to new participants. The group also shares a programme of seasonal activities and appearances in Almelo and elsewhere in Twente. Through performances, education and community engagement, Beeklust Bloazers helps keep this regional tradition visible and alive.
