The efforts to save the pub began in March 2016, and by December 2017, over £150,000 had been raised through share offers, fundraising events, and grants. With just enough funds, the pub was finally purchased in January 2019, preventing it from being redeveloped. The Ploughshare holds a proud history that dates back almost 500 years, with the oldest part of the current building dating back to 1620.
