About BehanBox
BehanBox is a brand that aims to address the issue of gender inequality in India. Despite enshrining the Right to Equality in the Constitution 70 years ago, women and transgender individuals continue to face underrepresentation in India's political and media spheres. With only 14% of Members of Parliament being women and no transgender individuals in parliament, it is clear that there is an urgent need for change.
BehanBox seeks to bring the voices and perspectives of women and gender diverse persons to the forefront of public discourse. As a women-led organization, they provide a platform for local and women journalists, particularly those from marginalized communities, to transform journalism and shed light on gender gaps at all levels. Through in-depth research, evidence-based reportage, and storytelling, BehanBox aims to mainstream gender journalism and promote a more equal society.
