Belenistas Alicante

The Association of Nativity Scene Makers of Alicante is a cultural organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the art and tradition of creating nativity scenes. It is a member of the Spanish Federation of Nativity Scene Makers and the Universalis Foederatio Praesepistica. Its members work in the association’s workshop throughout the year, designing, building and painting scenes for seasonal displays around Alicante, including installations in public and community venues.

The association also organizes Alicante’s traditional Christmas proclamation, an event held more than fifty times since 1969, and invites people to enter its nativity scene contest when it is announced. Visitors can explore the Nativity Scene Museum, opened in 1997 with support from Alicante City Council, and view photographs and videos documenting the association’s work and Christmas activities. The organization publishes the annual magazine Epifanía and shares news through its social media channels.

It welcomes people interested in supporting the tradition to collaborate or become members, helping keep this artistic and community practice alive
