About Bellingham Heritage
The Heritage Centre at Bellingham celebrates the history and heritage of the North Tyne and Redesdale valleys in Northumberland. Based at Station Yard in Bellingham, the centre invites visitors to explore local stories through exhibitions, events, a historical timeline and virtual tours. Its resources also support people researching the area, including online digital collections featuring more than 54,000 names in an ancestry database, historical newspaper clippings and images from the Collier Collection.
The centre welcomes families, schools and groups, offering educational resources, itineraries and visits, as well as memory-lane activities and memory boxes. Group visits can be arranged separately. Admission for general visitors is by donation, with no set fee. Nearby, Tea on the Train offers refreshments in a first-class 125 carriage and operates throughout the year.
Run with the support of volunteers, the Heritage Centre also offers volunteering opportunities, encourages donations of historical objects and welcomes people to join its Circle of Friends. Friends receive invitations to special events, a heritage newsletter and discounts at Tea on the Train.
