Belső Udvar Építész is an Architectural, Research, and Expert Office located in Vác, Pest county. We specialize in researching and designing environmentally conscious buildings in various architectural styles. Led by Peter Medgyasszay, a qualified architect and MBA, we have been independently designing buildings since 1997, with a leading designer certification since 2013.

Our aim is to create well-crafted and functional structures that also prioritize the natural environment. We believe that a successful building requires a good client, a skilled architect, and a competent contractor. To support these aspects, we offer direct design services and act as consultants for architects and contractors.

Additionally, our team engages in research, educational, and knowledge-sharing activities. We strive to understand and solve practical problems through our own research and collaboration with external researchers. Our findings are applied directly in practice and shared through publications and workshops.

In the field of architectural research, we partner with the Climate Change and Building Energy Research Group. As architects, we have witnessed the increasing feasibility of building eco-friendly structures that respond to the impacts of climate change. What was once considered utopian is now becoming common practice.

It won't be long before a significant portion of buildings not only meet the nearly zero-energy requirement from 2021 but also achieve actual zero energy consumption or even generate surplus energy. We are proud to have contributed to this ongoing process and continue to seek the best solutions while working with motivated clients. In our architectural design process, we utilize evolving 3D modeling techniques based on client requirements.

This allows us to present the building to clients and avoid potential errors. In addition to the standard architectural design process, we offer additional steps to ensure the best possible solutions, including life cycle cost analysis and environmental impact assessment using our own developed programs. We also simulate thermal bridges and conduct dynamic energy simulations for buildings.

For renovations, we perform instrument-based quality checks on both the existing and completed structures. Over the years, we have been recognized for several projects. For example, our Bíbic Visitor Center in Balmazújváros was selected as one of the top 10% projects in the Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction 2011 competition.

Our renovation and expansion project in Vác received recognition from the jury with an honorable mention at the 2014 Facade of the Year competition. Additionally, our straw bale house in Magyarkút received an honorable mention from the Hungarian Energy Office architectural competition in 2012. We have also developed a blueprint for straw bale houses that establishes important principles for family homes, focusing on efficient floor plans and cost-effective energy management.
