Belvin Literacy Institute

Belvin Literacy Institute (BLI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on expanding access to specialized instruction for people with language-based learning challenges. Founded by Mary Belvin, a Certified Academic Language Therapist with 20 years of experience, the institute responds to the needs of children whose reading, writing, and spelling difficulties can affect confidence and well-being. BLI supports a multi-sensory, explicit, systematic, phonics-based approach delivered by trained professionals, recognizing that students can learn when instruction is suited to their needs.

The organization provides scholarships for children requiring targeted literacy and/or math intervention. It also provides scholarships to adults pursuing certification as Literacy Intervention Specialists or Academic Language Therapists, helping prepare professionals to serve students through evidence-based methods. Through these funding opportunities, Belvin Literacy Institute aims to make appropriate educational support accessible regardless of a child’s background and to help prepare trained intervention providers. Its work centers on helping learners access instruction that addresses their individual learning needs.
