Bendigo Stroke Support Centre

Bendigo Stroke Support Centre is a volunteer-led organisation supporting stroke survivors, carers, and their families through recovery and beyond. Founded by stroke survivors who saw the need for a safe, welcoming place to share experiences, the Centre has spent more than 25 years helping people feel understood, valued, and connected. Its mission is to empower survivors to reconnect with their community, build confidence, regain independence, and work toward personal goals.

The Centre offers social and wellbeing activities designed to encourage participation, connection, and mental wellbeing. These include peer support chats, meditation sessions, walking groups, luncheons, and movie afternoons, providing opportunities to meet others in an inclusive, judgement-free environment. Volunteers also visit hospitals to meet people newly affected by stroke, offering guidance, reassurance, and opportunities for social connection during recovery. Events and group activities welcome survivors, carers, and families, whether they are seeking practical encouragement, new friendships, or time to relax with others.
