Bergwaldprojekt e. V. is a German environmental nonprofit that works with volunteers to protect, conserve, and restore ecosystems while encouraging society to use resources responsibly.

For more than 35 years, it has organized projects across Germany in native forests, peatlands, and open-land habitats. Its programs include regular, family, youth, women’s, and inclusive volunteer projects, as well as educational activities for schools and youth organizations. Participants take practical action and learn how ecosystems are connected and threatened.

The organization also offers corporate volunteering and partnerships, and supports conservation through donations, memberships, and tree sponsorships. Its work addresses issues including forest and climate crises, biodiversity loss, water, soil, and peatland conservation. Bergwaldprojekt shares project news, research, and environmental perspectives through its blog and public events.

It has also developed aim2balance. ai, a platform designed to make the environmental and social impacts of AI use more transparent and connect them with measures that strengthen resilience. A portion of the platform’s usage fees supports Bergwaldprojekt projects
