Betekoppen

C.S. de Betekoppen is a carnival association serving Sas van Gent, known during the festivities as Betekoppenstad. The organisation brings the community together through an annual programme of carnival events and shares information about preparations, local traditions and the history of carnival in the area. Its website provides an event calendar, details about the carnival parade and its route, and information about the building associations involved.

The association also supports younger participants through its Jeugdraad, which organises activities for young people during carnival and welcomes those interested in joining. Seasonal highlights include the announcement of the new Prince Carnival and Youth Prince or Princess, the opening of the carnival season and a community lottery. C.S. de Betekoppen also publishes a local carnival newspaper and offers sponsorship packages for businesses and supporters. Through these activities and resources, the association helps residents and visitors take part in Sas van Gent’s carnival celebrations, discover local customs and enjoy a lively programme throughout the season.
