About Museums of the Bethel Historical Society
Welcome to the Museums of the Bethel Historical Society! Established in 1966 in Bethel, Maine, this historical society collects, preserves, displays, and shares the rich history of western Maine and the White Mountain Region of New Hampshire and Maine. With over a dozen exhibit galleries and period rooms, the museums showcase the fascinating history of the area. The 1821 O'Neil Robinson House and the 1813 Dr.
Moses Mason House house these exhibits, while the Twitchell Education Center serves as a hub for demonstrations, children's programs, lectures, and community events. Additionally, the Museums of the Bethel Historical Society maintains an extensive library and archival collection of books, manuscripts, photographs, and historic objects that tell the story of Bethel and its surrounding region. Throughout the year, the society organizes high-quality events suitable for all ages.
