About 第72回別府大分毎日マラソン【公式】
The Beppu-Oita Mainichi Marathon, formerly known as the Beppu Marathon, was established in 1952 by Yasuo Ikegami, a coach from Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture. Initially, the race covered a 35km course starting from Beppu Station and turning at Shiraki in Oita City before transitioning to a full marathon in 1953. Alongside the Biwako Mainichi Marathon and Fukuoka International Marathon, it is recognized as one of Japan's three major classic races.
Throughout its history, the marathon has seen remarkable performances, including setting world and national records. Over the years, the course has evolved, with notable changes such as starting from Oita Municipal Track and Field Stadium. The event has also become a key qualifier for international championships, showcasing top talent and attracting elite athletes.
The Beppu-Oita Mainichi Marathon continues to be a prestigious race, providing a platform for both seasoned veterans and emerging talents to compete at a high level
