Better Men is a historical book and educational project by Steve Quesinberry, a history instructor, author, speaker, and historian based in Newnan, Georgia. It explores Coweta County’s connection to the Vietnam War through the lives of the 23 local men who died there, remembering them as individuals and recognizing the families who continue to grieve their loss. Rather than focusing on major battles, the book presents the war through the experiences of one rural Georgia community and its veterans.
The story also covers Coweta County’s adoption of a helicopter unit bound for Vietnam, local Medal of Honor recipients, the visit of the Wall that Heals, and a Newnan High School class that engaged with local Vietnam veterans. The Better Men website offers photographs, letters, reference materials, a map, and additional historical information. Visitors can purchase the book through Amazon or Corner Arts in downtown Newnan, contact Quesinberry with relevant stories or photographs, and inquire about presentations. A quarterly newsletter shares updates on his ongoing historical work.
