About Dr Iain Matheson
The Research Centre for Better Outcomes from Fostering and Residential Care (Better Outcomes) is a New Zealand-based research center and social enterprise dedicated to helping organizations in New Zealand, Australia, and internationally. Our goal is to generate and utilize evidence and learning to ensure that children and young people in or leaving out-of-home care (OOHC) can thrive.
Led by Dr. Iain Matheson, an experienced practitioner, independent reviewing officer, and researcher, our center offers a range of services and programs. We provide research, consultancy, and evaluation services related to OOHC. Our team works with government agencies, NGOs, universities, and other research centers to address challenges and opportunities in child welfare and OOHC.
Currently, we are involved in various research projects, including the New Zealand Care to Work Pathways Study and the Improving Postsecondary Education Planning for Children in OOHC project. We also offer webinars, training workshops, and coaching programs, and are available for keynote speaking engagements and advisory board roles.
