Beyond Behnke's traces its roots back almost 90 years when the Behnke Family started a nursery in the DC metro area, providing plants and advice to gardeners.

Although the physical nursery closed in 2019, the family and community were determined to keep their engagement with customers alive. Stephanie Fleming, granddaughter of the founders, took up the mantle and continued to share information through a weekly newsletter. Eventually, the idea of creating an online community called Beyond Behnke's emerged, providing a platform to inspire and connect plant lovers of all ages.
