Beyond Consequences Institute (BCI) provides trauma-informed support and training for schools, parents, and professionals working with children who display difficult or severe behaviors. Based in Colorado, the institute is owned by Heather T. Forbes, LCSW, who has worked in trauma and healing since 1999 and is an internationally published author. Its resources draw on her professional experience and personal insights into trauma, adoption, and child development.

For educators, BCI offers Classroom180, a framework for creating, implementing, sustaining, and assessing trauma-informed classrooms from kindergarten through grade 12. The accompanying Classroom180 Rubric helps administrators and other specialists support teachers. The institute also offers Classroom180 OnDemand, a recorded four-session course based on the framework. For educators and parents, Help for Billy presents practical strategies informed by the neuroscience of emotions and behavior, with guidance on how trauma can affect children’s brains and learning.
