Bezos Day One Fund

The Bezos Day One Fund is a philanthropic initiative focused on creating meaningful, lasting impact in two areas: supporting families experiencing homelessness and expanding access to early education in under-resourced communities. Its $2 billion commitment funds existing nonprofit organizations and supports the development and operation of tuition-free preschools.

Through the Day 1 Families Fund, the organization provides annual leadership awards to nonprofits and civic groups helping families move from unsheltered homelessness or shelters into safe, stable housing. Grantees also help families access services that support well-being and long-term stability. In 2025, the fund announced 32 recipients across 20 states, Washington, DC, and Guam, awarding a total of $102.5 million.

The Day 1 Academies Fund is building a network of tuition-free, full-day, Montessori-inspired preschools for children in under-resourced communities. Across both initiatives, the fund emphasizes learning, invention, improvement, and a strong focus on the people it serves. Its guiding vision for the Families Fund is that no child sleeps outside.
