Independent Schools Queensland

Queensland Independent Schools Block Grant Authority (QIS BGA) supports Queensland independent schools in creating educational facilities that promote educational excellence and equity. It receives capital funding from both levels of government and distributes grants to assist with the construction or refurbishment of school facilities. Its work combines funding with expert guidance and practical resources, helping school leaders contribute effectively to the planning, design, construction and activation of new or upgraded learning environments.

QIS BGA administers a Capital Program and offers support for new schools and campuses, master planning and other capital assistance. When assessing Capital Program applications, it visits applicant schools to understand their individual circumstances and ensure requests align with relevant legislation and program guidelines. The authority also provides seminars, workshops and guidance on the application process, value for money, design quality and delivery.

Its guides and toolkits include resources for master planning and sustainability, as well as a Post Occupancy Evaluation Toolkit to help schools assess how facilities perform and are used.
