About Bgsqd
The Bureau of General Services—Queer Division (BGSQD) is an independent, all-volunteer cultural center, bookstore, and event space located in New York City. Hosted by The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, their mission is to cultivate a community founded on mindfulness, intellectual curiosity, justice, compassion, and playfulness. BGSQD offers a wide range of resources and activities to engage and educate the queer community, including an extensive selection of books, publications, and art.
In addition to their bookstore, they host various events such as readings, performances, film screenings, book discussion groups, and workshops. The Bureau strives to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for local and visiting queers and friends to connect and socialize. Their location at The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center provides easy access for everyone, as they are wheelchair accessible and offer all-gender bathrooms.
