BharatGen is an Indian sovereign generative AI initiative bringing together researchers and institutions to develop AI rooted in the country’s languages, knowledge systems, and cultural diversity. Its foundational models are designed to understand and communicate in more than 22 Indian languages and dialects, supporting broader and more inclusive access to digital technology. The initiative develops text models for understanding and generation, speech technologies for recognition and text-to-speech, and vision models for image and document understanding. Its Bharat Data Sagar project is building a India-focused collection of text, speech, and image data for AI research and applications.

BharatGen also offers and develops practical tools, including Krishi Sathi, an AI assistant intended to support farmers, and e-VikrAI, which helps Indian sellers with business operations. Other offerings listed include Patram and DocBodh. Beyond products, BharatGen works with startups, industry, government, and academic partners on applications across areas such as agriculture, governance, and healthcare.
