About Bharat Life Sciences Award
The Bharat Life Sciences Award (BLSA) is a national platform celebrating achievement across India’s life sciences ecosystem. Organised by FICCI and powered by Lilly, it recognises individuals, teams, institutions, innovators and ecosystem builders whose work advances scientific discovery, strengthens health systems and delivers public health impact. The award is designed to pair recognition with investment in future progress, offering a grant stream, Samman, alongside Gaurav awards for recognition.
Its six awards span five categories and are intended to give excellence across disciplines and career stages an equal opportunity to be seen. Grant awards include prizes of up to INR 1. 5 crore, with a runner-up award of INR 50 lakh where applicable.
Applications are free and open to eligible scientists, research institutions, universities and startups working in life sciences. An eminent Advisory Council, independent jury and transparent evaluation process underpin the programme, with Grant Thornton Bharat serving as Process Advisor. The platform also hosts an Innovation Summit and award ceremony, scheduled for 1 October 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi
