About BHPC
The British Human Power Club (BHPC) is a community for people interested in human-powered vehicles (HPVs) in Britain. Its definition extends beyond conventional bicycles to include trikes, velomobiles, handcycles and pedalboats, as well as other vehicles powered by legs, arms or human ingenuity. The club helps members build, ride and race these machines, sharing practical information and opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts.
BHPC provides guidance on racing, including race classes, scoring and event-day information, and publishes race dates and results. Its resources include a vehicle-building guide by bike designer Mike Burrows, alongside club magazines and specialist publications. The quarterly LaidBack Cyclist covers the club and its community, with selected back issues available through the shop. BHPC also shares annual editions of EuSupino, a free eMagazine from the European Human Powered Vehicle Association, and directs visitors to related journals and media channels. Members and visitors can follow club rides, join discussions through the forum and social media, and attend race meetings, including events at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit.
