BIAS – Inequality in Women’s Health and Research is a Research Ireland-funded Science Week initiative focused on addressing bias in women’s healthcare and research. Supported by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the Rotunda Hospital, it encourages national dialogue about barriers that can prevent women from receiving adequate care, benefiting from research, and feeling understood and valued.

The project shares educational content and public discussions on women’s health, including fertility, pregnancy, menopause, and the history of healthcare biases. Its resources include expert Q&A sessions, interviews with women working in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM), and accounts of people’s experiences in healthcare. Recorded events feature clinicians, researchers, policy leaders, advocates, and support professionals discussing research, treatment options, health policy, and available support.

BIAS also highlights women’s contributions to STEMM and promotes inclusive research and more equitable healthcare. Through its event recordings, stories, and community updates, the initiative helps audiences explore current challenges and progress in women’s health, while supporting informed conversation and advocacy for a more equal future.
