The Plataforma Bicentenario de los Coloraos 1824–2024 is an Almería-based association dedicated to preserving and sharing the history and civic significance of the Coloraos. The Coloraos were liberal activists who arrived in Almería in August 1824 wearing red coats and seeking to restore the Constitution of 1812, which Fernando VII had abolished. The platform works to increase public understanding of this episode and its legacy of democratic and constitutional values, which have come to represent a commitment to freedom in Almería.
Its activities include promoting commemoration of the uprising, publishing historical information and documents, and organizing projects and events. The website provides resources on the history of the Coloraos, the meaning of their monument, the 2024 bicentennial, and the threat to this historic symbol. The association also advocates for the preservation of the monument to the Martyrs of Liberty, popularly known as the Pingurucho de los Coloraos, in Almería’s Plaza Vieja.
