About ICPA
The Bienal Internacional de Arte de Antioquia y Medellín (BIAM) is a public platform for artistic research, experimentation and exchange, organized with the Instituto de Cultura y Patrimonio de Antioquia. Its 2027 edition connects contemporary art with social, cultural and environmental challenges, presenting artistic practice as a form of knowledge that can interpret and transform its surroundings. With activities extending across all nine subregions of Antioquia, BIAM aims to link local and regional cultural processes with international conversations in contemporary art.
Under the artistic direction of Colombian artist and curator Harold Ortiz, BIAM 2027 is framed by “Cohabitar Mundos Comunes” (“Inhabiting Common Worlds”). This theme is also a research and creation methodology, inviting artists and audiences to imagine coexistence among people, communities, other species, technologies, territories and knowledge systems. An interdisciplinary Colombian and international curatorial team brings perspectives into dialogue with the realities of Antioquia. Through its biennial program and public engagement, BIAM promotes art and culture as forces for freedom, exchange and social transformation.
