About BiEPAG
BiEPAG is a policy advisory group comprised of policy analysts, scholars, and researchers. Established as a joint initiative of the European Fund for the Balkans and the Centre for Southeast European Studies of the University of Graz, BiEPAG aims to promote the European integration of the Western Balkans and the consolidation of democratic, open countries in the region. Composed of renowned policy researchers from the Western Balkans and all of Europe, BiEPAG is dedicated to advancing the European integration of the Western Balkan countries as prosperous and stable democracies.
To achieve this, BiEPAG conducts research, provides policy advice, and engages in advocacy efforts. Grounded in values such as respect for human dignity, democracy, equality, and the rule of law, BiEPAG produces timely, critical, and evidence-based research and policy advice. The group also focuses on communicating their findings and recommendations to policymakers and the public.
BiEPAG promotes diverse perspectives, fosters debate, and is committed to securing a democratic and prosperous future for the region. Furthermore, BiEPAG supports inclusive and functional democracies, the rule of law, civil society, media, and the protection of marginalized groups. European Integration is seen as a tool to achieve democracy, prosperity, and stability in the Western Balkans, and BiEPAG works towards this goal by collaborating with a wide range of social and political actors.
BiEPAG operates in a non-partisan manner, working with actors across the political spectrum as long as they align with the group's goals. They employ four main methods in their work: preparing research-based proposals for policy measures, disseminating recommendations, promoting expert debate, and democratising public debate through their blog. By supporting the integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union and contributing to the consolidation of democracy in the region, BiEPAG plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the Western Balkans
