Big Forest Frameworks is a bicycle framebuilding workshop based in Potsdam, near Berlin, Germany. The brand combines handcrafted frame expertise with practical learning, helping cyclists create bikes tailored to their bodies, riding styles, and ideas. Customers can build a steel frame in the Potsdam workshop during a guided one-week course, using the tools and materials provided, or follow an online, step-by-step program at home and work at their own pace. Both options welcome beginners, and the company says more than 600 people have built frames through its courses, most without prior experience.
Participants learn hands-on skills such as planning frame geometry, aligning and fitting steel tubes, filing joints, and brazing the frame. Course options include lugged framebuilding, fillet brazing, and combined techniques. Big Forest Frameworks also offers handcrafted frames and customized solutions for road and gravel bikes, supported by a focus on quality and personalized advice. Its approach emphasizes durable, repairable steel and the satisfaction of riding a bicycle built by hand.
