Big Rome Running

Big Rome Running, Inc. is a nonprofit organization established in March 2020 to honor the life and legacy of Jerome Scales, a dedicated runner, certified coach, and longtime member and board member of the Atlanta Track Club. Inspired by Scales’s commitment to running and his encouragement to “Keep Running” and take things “One Mile at a Time,” the organization works to help people of all ages pursue health and fitness through running, walking, and community activities.

Its programs include events, educational initiatives, and athletic scholarships. The One Mile at a Time High School Scholarship supports one male and one female Georgia high school senior involved in track and field or cross country, with awards based on a competitive application process. Big Rome Running also organizes running events, including the Big Rome XC Virtual Classic, and invites individuals to support its charitable work through donations. The organization states that all donations fund athletic scholarships. Its online store offers merchandise for purchase, with a portion of proceeds supporting scholarships for long-distance runners.
