Big Sun Photography is a tour and workshop company based in Montrose, Colorado, specializing in private photography and sightseeing adventures across Colorado and Utah. Its guided trips range from single-day outings to custom itineraries of up to 14 days, offering travelers a way to explore remote backcountry destinations that can be difficult to reach independently. On photography tours, lead guide Gene Tewksbury provides instruction in camera techniques and composition, helping guests build their skills while photographing the landscape.
Big Sun also offers private sightseeing Jeep tours, using 4×4 trails to reach scenic and secluded locations; these trips focus on the journey and destination rather than photography lessons. Featured experiences include tours of Arches and Canyonlands, night-sky photography outings, and autumn trips to photograph Colorado’s fall colors. The company’s photography tours and locations can also be booked as Jeep tours.
Big Sun offers workshops and organizes photography travel throughout the American West, particularly Colorado and Utah, as well as yearly safaris in Southeast Asia
